Very sorry to learn of Roy's passing, my condolences to his family and loved ones. He was a close friend of my father, Art. (A finer pair of rogues I can't imagine.) I first met Roy when I was a spotty little bagpiper, about a hundred years ago. I spent a fair portion of my impressionable youth with those two as we piped our way around Lanark County at various functions, or parades, or whatnot. Roy was great. An electric wit and a singular sense of humour. There weren't many dull moments. My favourite story Arthur used to tell was of the afternoon he and Roy marched into the Mississippi Hotel in Carleton Place, pipes a-blaring, and literally blew Stompin' Tom Connors off the stage. I wasn't with them that day so I can't verify the tale, but I can certainly believe it. (Apparently Mr Connors took it all in his stride and enjoyed the unscheduled entertainment.) Roy was a fantastic piper. I was always awestruck when I heard him play, and always felt rather unworthy to be playing alongside him. But he was never less than gracious and encouraging. A great guy. A great loss. Once again, condolences to family and loved ones.

I only met Roy once or twice. My husband and I bought the old farmhouse on Farmview, near Kinburn. I remember he came by once and we asked him in, but he declined. He said he wanted to remember it as it was when he lived in it.
So sorry for your loss. Sue Adams
